Visit to National Dance Institute

National Dance Institute: Great to be at the National Dance Institute’s 35th anniversary gala. I was thrilled to be at the piano while everyone sang “What I Did for Love” dedicated to Jacques D’Amboise.

NDI was founded by New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d’Amboise, and since 1995 has been under the artistic leadership of Ellen Weinstein. For more information.

There are children who live each day struggling with academics, with complicated family lives, and with emotional and physical challenges. I have seen these children leave the dance floor with a renewed spirit of hope, better able to handle the problems they face because of the inner peace they derive from the beauty of dance.”

I’ve been reading the Wikipedia article about this musical a few minutes ago and I noticed that they refer to this as some kind of a “lost” musical since no cast recording was ever released. I just would like to let you know that at least one bootleg recording survives. I have one marked as a “Final Preview” and I’m listening to it right now. I just would like to compliment you for the really good songs, particularly “Disneyland”. Regards, J
