New York — A HUGE TRIUMPH!! — On Monday, May 4th, 2015, the American Cancer Society presented “A Spring Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch” featuring the music of “Sweet Smell of Success” at the Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City. Proceeds from the Gala and the performance will benefit the critical cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services supported by the American Cancer Society.

American Cancer Society’s Marvin Hamlisch Benefit on May 4th! Several Broadway stars gave an enthralling concert performance of “Sweet Smell of Success”, Marvin Hamlisch (music), Craig Carnelia (lyrics), and John Guare (book)
The cast included Marc Kudisch (Hand to God) as J.J. Hunsecker and Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) as Sidney Falcone as well as Adam Jacobs (Aladdin) as Dallas, Lindsay Mendez (Wicked) as Rita, Marissa McGowan (A Little Night Music) as Susan, Bernard Dotson (Sweet Smell of Success — Original Cast), Steven Brinberg, Peter Dugan, and Charles Yang. The ensemble featured Craig Blake, Dionne Figgins, Matt Gibson, Justin Henry, Reed Kelly, Amanda Kloots, Ryan Steer, Mindy Wallace, Chryssie Whitehead, Ryan Worsing, and Sam Zack.
The performance was directed by John Simpkins with musical direction by J. Ernest Green, Choreography by Emmy Winner Tyce Diorio, stage management by Tony Award Winner Peter Lawrence and sound by Bob Rendon.
Philanthropist Lily Safra received the Marvin Hamlisch Memorial Award for Humanitarian Efforts in gratitude for her ongoing global charitable endeavors, notably in science and in medicine.
