Bananas is a 1971 American comedy film directed by Woody Allen and starring Allen, Louise Lasser, and Carlos Montalbán, Sylvester Stallone.
Allen’s second film as director (after Take the Money and Run (1969), and not counting What’s Up, Tiger Lily? (1966.)

Beneath the physical zaniness of Allen‘s antics – reminiscent of the great comics of the silent era — is an artist wrestling with larger issues of mortality,  morality and, of course, sexual frustration.

After being dumped by his activist girlfriend, travels to a tiny Latin American nation and becomes involved in its latest rebellion.  Parts of the plot are based on the book Don Quixote, U.S.A. by Richard P. Powell.”
