BWW Exclusive Interview — Terre Blair Hamlisch Talks PBS’s MARVIN HAMLISCH: WHAT HE DID FOR LOVE

BROADWAY WORLD: The love story of Terre Blair Hamlisch and her husband, the late composer and conductor Marvin Hamlisch, plays like a Hollywood movie. The couple courted over the phone, never coming face to face until the day Hamlisch proposed to her from the other side of a hotel room door, sight unseen. According to the legendary musician himself, his love for Terre blossomed purely through the sound of her voice.

  1. Watching on TV tonight, a show called “What He Did For Love” I am reminded how Maarvin Hamlish has added such delight to my life over the years, and get this, I’m a goat-rancher (actually a goat petting zoo and funny farm) in Texas, having no background in music. I suppose though, that Marvin has added delight to the rich and famous and everyone in between, and who in the world can claim that power.

I’m sad that Marvin is gone but happy his works remain for us to enjoy.
(Man, I would have loved to have had this guy for a neighbor! What a hoot and what a talent…)

  2. I was so touched by the person presented on PBS. Marvin Hamlisch was one of the most extraordinary people of this time. I will always remember seeing A Chorus Line in Toronto, it has remained my favorite show. I am 78 years old, was a music student for many many years, earning a degree in music in 1958. Music is a constant in my life and I love knowing that someone like Marvin Hamlisch’s contributions will continue to enhance my life and our world into the future.
    Thank you Marvin Hamlisch
